Famous Landscape Paintings Albert Bierstadt The Rocky Mountains

Saturday, July 16th, 2016

Famous Landscape Painting The Rocky Mountains Lander’s Peak is painted by Albert Bierstadt in 1863. This painting is the major work that resulted from the artist’s first trip to the West. In spring 1859, he accompanied a government survey expedition, headed by Colonel Frederick W. Lander, to the Nebraska Territory. By summer, the party had reached the Wind River Range of the Rocky Mountains in what is now Wyoming.

Bierstadt dubbed the central mountain in the picture Lander’s Peak following the colonel’s death in the Civil War. This was one of a number of large works painted after Bierstadt’s return from these travels. It was completed in 1863, exhibited to great acclaim, and purchased in 1865 for the then-astounding sum of $25,000 by James McHenry, an American living in London. Bierstadt later bought it back and gave or sold it to his brother Edward.

Landscape Paintings The Forest at Pontaubert

Saturday, July 16th, 2016

The Forest at Pontaubert was painted by Georges Seurat in 1881. Seurat spent two months in the late summer and early fall of 1881 in Pontaubert, a village in the Cousin Valley southeast of Paris frequented by Daubigny, Corot, and other Barbizon artists.
The visit inspired this “sous-bois” or forest glade, which Seurat probably completed the following winter in the studio he shared with his traveling companion and former Ecole des Beaux-Arts schoolmate Aman-Jean. It shows his technique just before he developed Pointillism.

Winter Landscape Paintings The Deer by Gustave Courbet

Friday, July 15th, 2016

The Deer was painted by Gustave Courbet in 1865. In the 1860s Courbet painted a number of canvases of deer in snow-filled woods. The trees and rocky outcropping that shelter the deer also appear in “Deer in the Snow” (1861; private collection), which is close in style to the present work.

This painting can be reproduced on canvas by MuseumArtPaintings.com. Original Dimensions: Height: 74.6 cm, Width: 92.4 cm. Other sizes and custom sizes are available, if you are interested, please visit our site or contact us at email: artsalehelp@gmail.com.

Fishing by Edouard Manet

Friday, July 15th, 2016

Fishing was painted by Edouard Manet in 1862–63. Manet’s lifelong friend Antonin Proust recorded Delacroix’s injunction when they visited him in 1856: “Look at Rubens, draw inspiration from Rubens, copy Rubens. Rubens was God.” The present painting could be considered a direct result of Delacroix’s admonition.

For the composition, Manet borrowed elements from Rubens’s “Park of the Chateau de Steen” (Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna) and “Landscape with Rainbow” (Musee du Louvre, Paris). In the foreground Manet substituted figures of himself and his companion, Suzanne Leenhoff, for those of Rubens and his second wife, Helena Fourment. For this reason, the painting is associated with the marriage of Suzanne and Manet.

Since the artist had concealed his relationship with Suzanne from his father, who died in September 1862, it is likely that the painting was made sometime between then and the wedding in October 1863. This painting can be reproduced on canvas by MuseumArtPaintings.com. Original Dimensions: Height: 76.8 cm, Width: 123.2 cm. Landscape Paintings The Bathing Pool by Hubert Robert

Friday, July 15th, 2016

The Bathing Pool was painted by Hubert Robert. This is one of a set of six paintings from a room in the Chateau de Bagatelle, on the outskirts of Paris which belonged to the comte d’Artois, brother of Louis XVI.

Robert often incorporated the antique ruins and monuments he had studied in Italy, in the present case the temple of Jupiter Serapis at Pozzuoli, near Naples. The statues of Mercury and Venus are based on works by the French sculptor Pigalle while the landscape is imaginary.

This painting can be reproduced on canvas by MuseumArtPaintings.com. Original Dimensions: Height: 174.6 cm, Width: 123.8 cm. Other sizes and custom sizes are available, if you are interested, please visit our site or contact us at email: artsalehelp@gmail.com.

Landscape Oil Paintings Isola Bella in Lago Maggiore

Isola Bella in Lago Maggiore was painted by Sanford Robinson Gifford in 1871. Gifford’s second visit to the Italian Lake district in summer 1868 resulted in a painting that contrasts markedly with the pictures done of the same subject matter after his first visit in 1856.

In those, taller picture proportions and high frontal sunlight made for bolder, more sculptured mountains and an amphitheatrical disposition of the setting. Here, the sun declining behind the alpine ridges generally flattens the terrain and, except for the warm palette, the picture evokes the landscapes of Gifford’s colleague, John Frederick Kensett.

Isola Bella is the island at right, with its terraced and pinnacled gardens, it was and remains a popular tourist attraction. This painting can be reproduced on canvas by DayDayPaint.com. Original Dimensions: Height: 51.4 cm, Width: 91.4 cm. Other sizes and custom sizes are available, if you are interested, please contact us at email: daydaypaint@gmail.com.
